We share the information about the lecture.

The Peshawar Association is an international NGO that has survived both the coronas and the death of its founder, Dr. Nakamura, in 2019, and continues to work vigorously today. Since then, the number of members has rather increased. Generally, private organizations are considered to be difficult to sustain because of their high degree of freedom. Nevertheless, the Peshawar Asc. is a very interesting private organization from the standpoint of organizational management, as its activities continue through autonomous management based on the firm ideas of its founder.

Our first encounter was by chance. The sister of a friend of mine from Yuge island had been the secretary of the association for a long time, and through this connection, the Peshawar Asc. became instantly familiar to me. I wanted to let as many people as possible know about this lecture.

Five people who are working or have worked with the Peshawar Asc. are scheduled to speak at this lecture. Peshawar Asc. is an international NGO established 40 years ago to support Dr. Nakamura’s medical activities in Pakistan, and is currently supporting PMS (Peace Medical Service Mission, Japan), an organization established by Dr. Nakamura, for its medical activities and irrigation projects in Afghanistan.

Three of the scheduled speakers worked in Afghanistan from around 2005 to 2008 as workers for PMS , an organization supported by Peshawar Asc. , where they were engaged in irrigation canal construction, accounting, and other work. After returning to Japan, each of them has been engaged in completely different jobs, such as opening a picture book store and teaching study groups, while at the same time working on social activities, such as establishing an organization that brings children from Fukushima to Kansai after the earthquake, childcare facilities, and child development support. We are looking forward to hearing about their current activities in Afghanistan and hearing directly from these Peshawar Asc. alumni about their diverse activities in Japan.

The location is Osaka, which is far from Yuge island, but if you are in the Kansai area, you are welcome to attend.
