第6回 航海日誌を英訳しよう
LOGBOOKによると、広島へ原爆が投下された直後、「日本政府が直ちにスイス政府を通じて米国政府に抗議声明を出していた」そうです。
外務省の日本外交文書デジタルコレクションに収録されている、太平洋戦争 第3冊 1690頁「一 人道的諸問題に対する対米抗議」の章に、"昭和20年8月9日 東郷外務大臣より在スイス加瀬公使宛「米軍機による原子爆弾投下に対する抗議について」 という文書が、たしかに収録されていました。
この「一 人道的諸問題に対する対米抗議」の章には、ほかに、1944年10月10日の那覇空襲、阿波丸事件に対する抗議も収録されていました。
人類共通の課題を学ぶきっかけが得られました。
According to LOGBOOK, immediately after the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, “the Japanese government, through the Swiss government, immediately issued a statement of protest to the US government”. A document titled ‘August 9, 1945: Minister of Foreign Affairs Togo to Minister Kase in Switzerland, “Protest against the Dropping of Atomic Bombs by U.S. Military Aircraft”‘ has been certainly recorded in the chapter “1. Protests Against the United States on the Unilateral Issues” of the Pacific War Volume III on page 1690, contained in the Foreign Ministry’s digital collection of Japanese diplomatic documents. Beyond that, ‘Protest against the October 10’ and ‘1944 Naha air raid and the Awamaru incident’ were recorded in it.
I got the chance to learn a common issue for all humanity.
