6th Bubble Club 2021 第6回バブルクラブ // ミント水 x イノシシ脂 x オリーブオイル せっけん

バブルクラブは、メンバーのけいこさんのお子さん、ごうくんとここちゃんが参加する弓削小学校でサッカークラブがある毎週水曜日午後6時から7時に合わせて活動しています。今日はサッカークラブがお休みとのことで子どもたちをも一緒に。最近たてこんでいたかずみさん、ニュージーランドから研究活動のために来島して長期滞在中の慶応大の学生さんのナンシー、も加わり、にぎやかなバブルクラブになりました
かずみさんが、自宅の庭で採取したフレッシュミント を煮だして冷凍保存していたミント水を用意してきてくれました。同じミント系の香りですが、いつも使うはっか油とはまた違い、水溶性の成分も加わったせっけんになりそうです。以前製作してみた無香料イノシシ脂100%せっけんは、日にちがたって臭いがきつくなってきたので、普段は控えている香りづけをしたり、使用割合を下げるなど、これまで試行錯誤を繰り返していたところでした。今日はミント水を使い、油脂全量に対し20%まで使用率を下げてみることにしました。
また、今回は、2倍量を一度に作ることにしたので、いつものハンドブレンダーの代わりに、据え置きの電動ミキサーを初めて使ってみました。ずっと手で握りスイッチを押していなければならないハンドブレンダ―に比べて、一度スイッチを押したら放っておけるミキサーはとても楽です。ですが、速度調整のコツがつかめずトレースが出る（反応が進んで固まってくる）まで時間がかかりそうだったので、途中でハンドブレンダ―に切り替えると、数分で無事トレースが出たので型に流しいれて今日の作業は終了しました。
今回2回目のナンシーは、みんなでわいわいせっけんづくりを楽しむ雰囲気が気に入ったようです。来週はナンシーに、PETボトルを使ったせっけんづくりを体験してもらおうと思っています。

The Bubble Club meets every Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. when there is a soccer club at Yuge Elementary School where members Keiko's children, Gou-kun and Koko-chan, participate. Today, the soccer club was closed, so her children also joined in Bubble club. Kazumi, who has been busy recently, and Nancy, a Keio University student from New Zealand who came to the island for a long stay for research activities, joined us for a lively Bubble Club.

Kazumi-san brought me some mint water that she had boiled fresh mint from her garden and stored in freezer. It has the same mint scent, but it is different from the usual Mint oil, and it will be a soap with water-soluble ingredients. The unscented 100% boar's fat soap we made in the past started to smell bad after a few days, so I had to repeat the trial and error process of adding fragrance, which we usually refrain from doing, and lowering the percentage of fragrance used. Today I decided to use mint water and lower the usage rate to 20% of the total amount of oil and fat.
Also, since I decided to make twice the amount at once, I used a stationary electric mixer for the first time instead of my usual hand blender. Compared to the hand blender, where I had to hold the switch with my hand all the time, the blender was very easy to use because I could just press the switch once and let it go. However, I couldn't get the hang of adjusting the speed, and it seemed to take a long time for the trace to appear (the reaction progressed and solidified), so I switched to the hand blender halfway through the process, and the trace appeared within a few minutes. This was Nancy's second time at the workshop, and she really enjoyed the atmosphere of making soap together. Next week, I'm planning to have Nancy try her hand at making soap using PET bottles.
