Today was organizing day.
We demolded homemade soaps and cut them for desiccation. According to the instruction book, soaps get hard enough to be cut for a few days. But it takes more time these days. It may be because it was humid by a long spell of rain in this rainy season.
Keiko san and Kazumi san carefully cut soap bar into even width. We noticed that we need to decide the size that is easy to use and a kind of jig to divide evenly. I was a little troubled by that how I take solidified soap from PET bottle. I ended up cutting out PET bottle with scissors and peeling off in spirals. It was not so difficult than expected. After dried the soap made by PET bottle method probably for a few weeks, we will try out them to choose the best component and process, and then we hope to provide workshop of making soap.
One of member, Kazumi san brought many kinds of paper fan to have them used by many guests who visit here. The frame was made of plastic or bamboo. I am always impressed by subtle craftmanship of the bamboo frame. The ground paper was made of Japanese paper, artificial paper, and cloth. Kazumi san's family has been paper fan maker and it is the busiest time of year just now.
I really enjoy meeting all kinds of creation irrespective of modern or traditional and one made by hand, machine or computer.

今日は、整理整頓の日でした。
これまで作ってきた石鹸を型から取り出し、乾燥させるために切り分けました。石鹸づくりの本によると、石鹸はコールドプロセスで作製後2，3日後には十分固まっていて切り分けられるとありますが、最近はなかなか固まりません。おそらくこの梅雨の長雨で湿度が高くなっているためでしょう。
けいこさんとかずみさんは、牛乳パックで固めた石鹸をパックから取り出し、慎重に等分に切り分けていきました。ここで気づいたのですが、使いやすい石鹸のサイズを決める必要があります。また、等分に切り分ける治具があるとよさそうです。PETボトルで固めた石鹸は、どう取り出すかちょっと悩みましたが、結局、はさみでPETボトルを切り開くと、らせん状にするする剥くことができ、思ったより簡単でした。
PETボトルで作った石鹸は２，３週間乾燥させた後、実際に私たちで使ってみて最適な組成と方法を決定したら、石鹸づくりのワークショップをしたいと考えています。
かずみさんは、いろいろな種類のうちわを持ってきて、うちにたくさんくるお客さんに使ってもらえたら、と置いていってくれました。骨組みがプラスチックのもの、竹のもの。持ち柄が丸のもの平なもの。うちわの竹の柄をみるたびに、職人の高度な技術に感動します。地紙が和紙、洋紙、布のものも。かずみさんの家系は丸亀うちわの職人さん、今がいちばん忙しい時期だそうです。
私はあらゆる創作物との出会いが好きです。現代的、伝統的にかかわらず、また、手作り、機械、コンピューターいずれで作られたものであっても。
